Job description

Probability & Partners is looking for a student intern to work with our colleagues on client projects. You will work supervised and guided by one of our more experienced colleagues. The type of project is highly dependent on client needs, however typical projects would be; Constructing and/or calibrating a credit model for a medium sized bank in Python; Validating the methodology implementation in R of the ALM (asset and liability management) model of a pension fund; Assisting in the development of a new IRRBB (interest rate risk in the banking book) model of a bank; Supporting the risk team at an asset manager in the automation of the risk reports and understanding portfolio characteristics using SQL and client software.

As an intern you will work on a client project for approximately 80%-90% of your time, for the remainder we ask you to assist and support us in smaller ad-hoc projects. These can, for example, be data analysis projects or assisting with client presentations. The aim is for you to get experience with applying your academic knowledge in practice and secondly to get to know Probability, our clients, and consulting. We see this as a great opportunity to get to know excellent quantitative students and approximately half of our (thesis) interns join our company as a full-time employee after completing their studies.

You will get a coach in the form of an experienced senior consultant who will guide you in the client project and your personal development. In addition to this our colleagues are always interested in discussing their sectors, key topics and developments.

Profile

Competences

• Analytical and critical;

Experience

• MSc in a quantitative field such as Applied Mathematics, Quantitative risk Management, Econometrics, Actuarial Sciences, Quantitative Finance;
• Excellent academic track record (GPA > 7.5).

Knowledge

• Programming (Python, R, SQL, etc);
• Risk analysis;
• Risk modeling;
• Financial markets and risk management.

Pre

• Internship at financial institution;
• Experience with Artificial Intelligence;
• Board year of student association.

We are a consultancy firm specialized in risk management, founded in 2014. Probability currently employs around 25 people. Our offices are located in Amsterdam and Gouda. With our services, we support a wide variety of clients in the financial sector. For example, we work for banks, insurers, pension funds, asset managers, supervisors, FinTech and family offices. We help our clients manage their risks. In doing so, we use a holistic approach to risk management, and a unique combination of hands-on experience in the field and academic knowledge.
